Ethan was fed up. Cursed be it, he merely sought a lighthearted affair following his separation, rather than engaging in a mental duel with his former wife’s closest companion. Yet here he found himself, at the age of 35, caught in a scenario reminiscent of a low-quality film.
“Cursed be it, Harper, you’re nuts!” Ethan wanted to yell, throwing his wallet onto the motel dresser. “You’ve got twice my energy and still want to turn me into some kind of experiment to compete with my ex?”
Harper, 33, rolled her eyes as if Ethan were a child throwing a tantrum. “Stop whining. Everyone’s got their baggage.”
Ethan felt his blood boil. What a manipulative woman. Months of casual hookups, and she still didn’t understand shit about respect.
